Hebel™ aerated concrete – CSR Hebel has been awarded the Good Environmental Choice Award demonstrating a 30% or greater reduction in environmental load when compared to other products performing a similar function.

With the new Five-star energy rating commencing in Queensland in March 2009, the QLD state government announced that all new homes in Queensland will be required to achieve a minimum five-star energy equivalent rating with Anna Bligh saying it will also apply to major renovations, where possible.

Hebel has been used to meet the five-star rating and is working towards a better environment by:

• an ecologically responsible product process
• requiring less than 33% of the raw materials needed for making clay bricks
• Using 64% less embodied energy than comparative concrete and brick veneer wall systems and results in 55% less green house gas emissions 
• Contributing less waste and less landfill using Hebel
• Greater Energy Efficiency
